Won Hee-ryong, 37^th governor of Jeju officially took up his office on July 1st, 2014.  

He stated "Green environment is not only vital factor also precious public asset to our community. I will properly develop Jeju`s nature, culture and people`s value. Plus, I will make Jeju to best resort city in Northeast Asia." 

Also, he mentioned “Our number one priority should be the conservation of this island's green environment rather than development." 

And he emphasized “I will never let speculation funds and development disregarding the environment harm this island”
