Dr. Sinha is responsible for coordinating activities in South Asia. He has been working closely with governments, civil society organizations and the intergovernmental organizations to strengthen

environmental community in South Asia. He was previously heading the Assessment and Reporting Component of the Regional Resource Centre of the United Nations Environment Programme (AIT-UNEP RRC) in Bangkok. He has supported the capacity building activities at the regional, subregional, national and local levels as a resource person in the areas of environmental assessment and reporting, subregional and national sustainable development strategies, environmental and sustainable development indicators, environmental mainstreaming and environmental impact assessment. Dr. Sinha was previously a Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi, where he served as Head for TERI’s Centre for Environmental Studies. At TERI, he has worked extensively on regional environmental planning and management, carrying capacity studies, environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment and state of the environment reporting at national, local and sectoral levels. Subrata Sinha holds a Ph D in Environmental Engineering from Indian School of Mines, India.
