INTERNATIONAL INTERACTION ON DEVELOPMENT ISSUES

1. Represented India at Expert Group Conference of the G-15 Countries on "Self propelling Growth" held in Jakarta (Indonesia) and was elected Chairman, Drafting Committee.  

2. Represented India at an International Consultation on "Strategies for Poverty Alleviation in Urban Areas" organized by UNICEF and presented a paper on “A blueprint for the provision of Urban Basic Services to the poor in India” at New York.

3. Served as Mission Leader of the Urban Informal Sector at the ILO (India Office) on foreign deputation for two years.

4. Member of an Indian delegation for studying Training Institutions in the U.K., Sweden and France for developing an agenda for Civil Service Reform.

5. Keynote Address on “In Situ Slum Rehabilitation” at the ADB Seminar during the World Water Week at Stockholm.

6. Represented India as Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, at Ethiopia, Botswana & South Africa as part of the Africa- India Initiative.

7. Delivered an Address on “Provision of Housing & Basic Services to the Urban Poor” at Brasilia at the invitation of the Brazilian Government.
